Unique Art/Lifestyle Event Creates Community Popular Show Welcomes Environmental Nonprofit This Year Gifts Galore and More Scheduled October 5th - 6th, 2027 in East Cobb
A nationally recognized textile designer, Lynn Reiter Weinberg will convert her eclectic East Cobb home, studio and garden into a showcase for East Cobb artists and vendors Tuesday October 7th and Wednesday October 8th. Weinberg's home, in the Somerset subdivision, is quite unusual and has been featured by the Atlanta Journal Constitution in their section called Private Quarters. “The public is warmly invited to the 13th Gifts Galore & More,” says event creator Lynn Weinberg.“As well as an opportunity to shop for distinctive gifts and handmade items, Gifts Galore is also an opportunity for artists and local vendors to come together and share their talents.” The idea for the event which started in 2009 came from Weinberg’s interest in connecting with other artists and local vendors in East Cobb. It started as a yearly event, but now only takes place every other year. “It’s also a reflection of my own lifestyle – the people, products, services and businesses showcased are ones I personally admire and use.” She started her career as part of an artist cooperative in Alexandria, VA., called The Torpedo Factory and this event gives her the opportunity to recapture that environment. Weinberg also loves working in the garden and the show features the work of a local garden sculptor in the front, along with many works that she has created, a greenhouse built by her husband and several other unique garden features. Weinberg's husband, an avid birder, has turned the yard into a bird haven and now that he is retired he will be showing his woodworking as well. The garden is registered with the Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail, and includes native plants to nourish butterflies, bees and birds. Other highlights include large-scale mosaics, unique container gardens and custom birdhouses built by Weinberg’s husband, Dr. Winkler Weinberg. Gifts Galore & More welcomes a new participant this year, Birds GA. Members of the statewide organization, an independent partner of National Audubon Society, will share information and expertise about building bird-friendly communities. They will offer bird-friendly coffee and chocolate and will discuss the benefits of membership. On Tuesday evening October 7, visitors to the show are invited to witness an extraordinary ecological event as hundreds of Chimney Swifts return to roost in a stack the Weinberg's have built for this purpose. The setting is fun and unique, with artists and vendors in a relaxed indoor/outdoor environment.Participants in this year’s show will feature jewelry, garden sculptures, pottery, hand knit items, handbags, woodworks, scarves, outdoor containers, wreaths, baby and holiday decor, homemade jams, baked goods, spices and toffee, skin care products and many other unique gift items. The event will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, October 5th and 6th in the Somerset Subdivision, 3275 Somerset Trace SE, Marietta, 30067.Hours are Tuesday 10 am to 2 pm & 5 pm to 8 pm and Wednesday 10 am to 3 pm.
